Moravian Day of Giving 2026

On February 17, 2026, Moravians across North America will once again join together for a day devoted to generosity and shared mission. Now in its sixth year, the Moravian Day of Giving continues to grow in energy and purpose as individuals and congregations give in support of ministries that bring hope, healing, and compassion to their communities.

What began in 2021 as a simple invitation to give on one shared day has become a vibrant expression of who we are as Moravians. Each gift offered on the Moravian Day of Giving strengthens work already happening throughout our church and opens doors for new ministry to take shape.

Who:
Everyone who feels called to make a difference. Congregations, agencies, and individual Moravians across the continent take part, each adding their own spark of generosity to this shared effort.

What:

The Moravian Day of Giving is an annual celebration of generosity and our wider Moravian community. It brings us together to support congregations, ministries, and the Field of Interest Funds that provide grants for work in hunger relief, housing, health, creation care, racial equity, prison ministry, and clothing support.

In 2026, the day features two special initiatives designed to expand the impact of every gift:

  • A participation challenge in which six churches or organizations with the highest number of individual donors will receive 2,026 dollars.
  • Matching support for each Field of Interest Fund, doubling gifts up to $2,026 per fund.

These initiatives encourage broad participation and help ensure that ministries across the Moravian Church continue to thrive.

FAQ

What does “Unique Individual Donors” mean?

To ensure fairness and maximize the impact of the $2,026 participation prizes, it’s important to understand how unique individual donors are counted. MMFA will award $2,026 to the six Moravian organizations (churches, agencies, camps, etc.) that have the most unique individual donors during the Moravian Day of Giving. Here’s how it works:

  • Each Individual Must Donate to Their Organization of Choice
    • If you want your church or favorite Moravian organization to receive credit, you must make a donation directly to that organization through MMFA’s Giving Portal.
    • Your church does not get credit if you donate to a different Moravian organization.
    • If you donate to more than one organization in a single transaction, all organizations will receive credit for your participation.
  • Household Donations
    • When donating, select the “individual” option to ensure each donation is tied to one name at a time.
    • Donations made as a household will count as one unique donor.
    • To count as two unique donors, each family member or spouse must make separate donations.

Example

You’re a member of West Side Moravian Church, but you also want to support other Moravian organizations:

  • On February 17, 2026, you donate $20 to West Side Moravian Church and $20 to the Board of World Mission.
    • You will count as one unique donor for West Side and one unique donor for the Board of World Mission.
  • If you only donate to the Board of World Mission and not West Side, then only the Board of World Mission will receive credit for your participation.
  • If you and your spouse want to support West Side and be counted as two unique donors, you must each make separate donations.

Yes, you can send in a check, but we highly recommend donating through the Moravian Giving Portal for a faster and easier process. Online donations ensure your gift is immediately counted toward participation prizes and matching contributions.

If you prefer to send a check, here’s what you need to know:

  • Checks must be postmarked BY February 17, 2026.
  • Include Specific Donation Details:
    • Make the check payable to MMFA.
    • Clearly indicate the organization(s) you wish to support in the memo line.
    • If multiple donors are included in one check, list ALL individual donors with addresses and specify how much each individual donated and the organization(s) they wish to support

Mailing Address:
Send your check to:
Moravian Ministries Foundation in America
100 North Main Street, Suite 1510 | Winston-Salem, NC 27101

Stories of Inspiration

Rooted in faith, united in love, and inspired by hope, the Moravian Day of Giving reflects the heart of our community. This year, we’re celebrating five years of transformative generosity—and together, we can create an even brighter future, one gift at a time.

Below, you’ll see images from past recipients of our Field of Interest (FOI) Fund grants, highlighting the real-world impact of your generosity. Every dollar donated to an FOI fund goes directly to ministries through our grant program.

We’re thrilled to announce that matching donors have pledged support for all FOI funds, up to $2,500 per fund. With your help, we have the potential to unlock an additional $5,000 in grants for each FOI fund. Together, we can make this happen!

Together We Give....

The Moravian Day of Giving is a testament to the life-changing impact of generosity. Take Common Grace, for example—a 2023 incentive winner. With their prize, they expanded community events, supported local schools, and grew a food pantry garden. As Rev. Staci Marrese-Wheeler shared:

“The joy of giving became a ministry in itself.”

Your story can inspire others, too! Share who or what motivates your generosity by emailing Hanna Jackson at hjackson@mmfa.com by March 1, 2025.

If you have any questions, comments, or issues, please reach out to MMFA through our Contact Us form or call us at 336.725.2589. We’re here to help make your participation in the Moravian Day of Giving seamless and rewarding!
