For almost 15 years On Wings Like a Dove has been providing tools and resources to encourage families, prodigals, and those in prison to walk in the light. Through mentoring, Bible study correspondence courses, and more, On Wings Like a Dove works to transform lives through the grace we all receive as followers of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
Spreading the gospel
In 2021, On Wings Like a Dove mailed:
- 1,256 Bibles to inmates in 15 states
- 793 Bible Study Correspondence Courses to 40 mentors engaging inmates in discipleship and evangelism
- 23,900 newsletters to prisons in 22 states
- 2,680 family newsletters to 225 families in 23 states
Founder Sandra Kearns said, “We have never ‘advertised’ that Bibles are available. Yet, through word of mouth and reputation, our budget this year for Bibles and shipping is $30,000.”
Your gifts on the Moravian Day of Giving matter
Thanks to generous people like you, in August 2022 the Moravian Prison Ministry Field of Interest Fund awarded On Wings Like a Dove a $2,000 grant to help with the purchasing and shipping of 78 Bibles. May you be blessed as you read the following notes of gratitude from the inmates who received them. Your gifts to Moravian Field of Interest Funds on the Moravian Day of Giving (and throughout the year) turn into grants to fund God’s work.
“The Bible you sent me has been an inspiration, not only in my life, but others as well. I am going home a Shepherd.”
“We just finished our first study of God’s Word in the Bibles provided through your organization. We’re in confinement more than 23 hours a day. We dedicate more and more time to learning God’s character, understanding His love, and will soon know, not assume or guess, what following Christ through denying self, taking up our cross daily, and acting in the way you would expect others to act means. God bless and thank you for your charity!”
“I so appreciate the work you do and for your care and compassion for my young adult nephew when he was incarcerated. You generously provided a specific Bible version that appealed to his simple speaking style and reading ability. It made such a big difference to him.”

They recently began a faith-based transitional housing program, On Wings of Hope, and are eager to meet this critical need of those leaving prison. We celebrate and give thanks for On Wings Like a Dove’s ministry and for everyone who has given so faithfully to the Moravian Prison Ministry Field of Interest Fund.
