Claude Buck (1890-1974)

Claude Buck was born in New York City and was taught to paint by his artist father. Between the ages of eleven and fourteen, he was granted a special permit and proceeded to copy all the most famous paintings then in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. When Buck studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City, he received awards in every subject. When he moved to Chicago, he became a leading figure in the Chicago art world. The artist eventually moved to California in 1943.
