Maurice Braun (1877-1941)

Maurice Braun was born in Nagy Bittse, Hungary. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1881 and settled in New York City where he studied at the National Academy of Design and later with the renowned impressionist, William Merritt Chase. From 1922 to 1924, Braun maintained a studio in Silvermine, Connecticut. In 1910, Braun moved to San Diego where he lived and painted until his death in 1941.
